Unilever’s Growth Action Plan 2030 defines four
sustainability priorities. The four of which are environmental. Thee ambitions
for these four priorities are:
• Climate: to deliver net zero emissions across their
value chain
They focusing on
reducing absolute operational GHG emissions (Scope 1 & 2) by 100% by 2030
from a 2015 baseline and reducing absolute Scope 3 energy and industrial GHG
emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline and reducing absolute Scope 3
forest, land and agriculture (FLAG) GHG emissions** by 30.3% by 2030 from a
2021 baseline.
• Nature: to deliver resilient and regenerative natural
and agricultural ecosystems.
By 2030, 95% of the volume of important crops must be
confirmed to be obtained sustainably. By 2030, they will have planted one
million hectares of agricultural land with Regenerative Agriculture techniques.
By 2030, contribute to the preservation and restoration of one million hectares
of natural ecosystems. By 2030, establish water stewardship initiatives in 100
water-stressed areas.
• Plastics: end to plastic pollution through reduction,
circulation and collaboration.
There are Reduce their virgin plastic footprint from a
baseline of 2019 by 30% by 2026 and 40% by 2028. Completely recyclable,
biodegradable, or reusable plastic packaging will be used by 2030 for rigids
and 2035 for flexibles. By 2025, 25% of their packaging will be made of
recycled plastic. By 2025, they should collect and process more plastic
packaging than they sell.
• Livelihoods: A decent livelihood for people in our
value chain, including by earning a living wage by 2030.
By 2026, help 250,000 smallholder farmers in their supply
chain in obtaining livelihood programs. By 2026, suppliers who account for half
of their purchases must join the Living Wage Promise. By 2026, support 2.5
million SMEs in their retail value chain by expanding their operations.
In addition to these priorities, Unilever committed to
environmental compliance and ecoefficiency practices in their operations which
reduce and prevent pollutant emissions and releases to air, land, and water.
